Impact Academy is our expansion beyond technical training into the human and commercial skills that early career professionals need in the workplace — an opportunity to help shape a growing part of the business.

Working under the guidance of the Senior Instructional Designer, and alongside senior designers and subject matter experts, you will translate programme frameworks into clear, engaging and accessible learning resources. You will contribute across multiple content development projects, making sure materials meet our quality standards, delivery requirements and learner needs. The role suits someone with solid instructional design experience who is comfortable working across a range of tools and adaptable in their approach.

Key Responsibilities

Content Design & Development (50%)

• Storyboard e-learning, video and blended learning content
• Develop high-quality e-learning materials with supporting facilitator guides
• Translate subject matter into accessible, learner-friendly content, including scenarios, activities and case studies
• Ensure alignment with curriculum frameworks, templates and brand guidelines

Assessment & Quality (20%)

• Support the design of assessment materials — quizzes, tasks and guided reflections — alongside marking guides and assessment criteria
• Carry out accuracy checks and quality reviews, incorporating feedback from facilitators, learners and stakeholders
• Ensure materials meet apprenticeship and Ofsted expectations where relevant

Technology & Innovation (20%)

• Produce digital content using authoring tools and learning technologies
• Administer the LMS: upload and organise content, and keep pace with platform developments
• Stay current on instructional design practice and suggest improvements to content formats and learner engagement

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)

• Work with subject matter experts to extract and structure knowledge for learning materials
• Liaise with the Programme Delivery team to ensure content is practical and delivery-ready
• Contribute to content review meetings, and flag progress, risks and issues to the Senior Instructional Designer

Essential Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years' experience developing e-learning materials for education, training or professional development
• Hands-on experience with authoring tools — specifically Articulate Storyline and Rise, Mighty and Synthesia — and with LMS platforms
• Ability to create content for a range of delivery formats: classroom, virtual and digital
• Experience working with subject matter experts to gather and shape content
• Grounding in adult learning principles, instructional design approaches and assessment design
• A degree in a relevant field (e.g. Learning & Development, Education, Psychology, Communications) or equivalent experience
• Strong written communication, editing and Microsoft Office skills, with an eye for clear, visually appealing resources
• Attention to detail, sound organisation and the ability to meet deadlines
• A collaborative, curious approach and openness to feedback

Desirable

• Experience in accountancy, finance or professional services
• Understanding of apprenticeship frameworks or vocational education
• Multimedia or basic video editing skills
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) for learning content
• A portfolio of instructional design work including Articulate 360 and Synthesia, or similar tools
