Job Summary:

The Senior Instructional Designer for RailPros Training & Media Service group leads the design and development of innovative, effective training programs for our clients. This role collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), safety officers, and operations leaders to create learning solutions that support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and workforce development. This position requires both independent initiative and team leadership, providing guidance to other instructional designers and content developers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to develop engaging, multimedia rich course content
  • Lead the end to end design and development of learning content, including modes of assessment to measure the effectiveness and application of training
  • Lead a cross functional development team throughout the project life cycle
  • Design inclusive learning experiences that reflect diverse learning styles
  • Collaborate with SMEs to identify training needs and close knowledge gaps
  • Recommend curriculum strategies based on needs analysis
  • Define instructional goals and align content accordingly
  • Contribute to project proposals, including scope, design plans, timelines, and budgets
  • Develop training deliverables such as ILT guides, eLearning modules, exams, and surveys
  • Support media production (audio, video, animations, simulations, games)
  • Create interactive exercises and activities to reinforce learning
  • Establish performance criteria and develop assessment tools
  • Maintain project documentation and course assets
  • Conduct post training evaluations and recommend improvements
  • Proficient with electronic communications including email and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Lead project meetings and makes presentations
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
  • This position may require routine travel to RailPros headquarters, field offices or client offices, work sites and other project related locations
