Instructional Technologist III

This position is no longer accepting applications(closed Aug 16, 2026).

Job Summary

Nightingale is looking for an Instructional Technologist III to join our Learning Design and Innovation team — a senior-level learning technology specialist who thrives on solving the LMS puzzles other people can't crack. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who loves going deep: diagnosing root causes, validating integrations before they hit production, and building the scripts that keep our systems running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role

At Nightingale, our learning platforms are how thousands of learners across the country experience their education — so when something breaks, it matters. As an Instructional Technologist III, you'll bridge instructional support and system-level operations, bringing advanced troubleshooting, integration testing, and automation know-how to a community that's counting on stable, well-functioning tools. You'll operate independently, trusted to analyze system behavior and drive platform optimization forward, while continuing to support the faculty initiatives that keep our classrooms running.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and resolve complex LMS configuration issues beyond standard course-level troubleshooting
  • Analyze blueprint sync inconsistencies and identify root causes
  • Investigate gradebook behavior, permissions conflicts, and workflow disruptions
  • Interpret browser console output and identify JavaScript-related issues impacting LMS behavior
  • Conduct sandbox testing for LTI tool updates and configuration changes, and validate integration behavior prior to production release
  • Document system-level defects and escalate findings with detailed technical context
  • Assist in reviewing vendor documentation and identifying potential configuration impacts
  • Develop and maintain scoped Python scripts for backend API data retrieval, validation, and reporting
  • Perform structured data manipulation for LMS-related reporting and workflow support
  • Assist in validating data accuracy for course copy, integration sync, or automation processes
  • Support monitoring and troubleshooting of automated scripts under defined standards
  • Test and validate Canvas theme changes in non-production environments, and identify behavior conflicts or accessibility concerns related to CSS or JavaScript updates (this role provides structured feedback but does not deploy or modify production theme code)
  • Provide advanced Tier II/III instructional technology support and serve as an escalation resource for Instructional Technologist II staff
  • Deliver advanced training on LMS features and instructional tools

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of progressive experience supporting LMS platforms
  • Advanced working knowledge of LMS configuration and platform behavior
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript sufficient to diagnose integration and UI-related issues
  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
