Instructor Mvskoke Language Master Apprentice

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Master-Apprentice Instructor in Mvskoke Language is responsible for teaching apprentices in a college level class through the spoken word, contributing to the development of curriculum in their field of expertise, and working with the Academic Dean for course design. Academic Affairs staff will assist with syllabi, lesson plan development, and assessment. Instructors are expected to follow College of the Muscogee Nation and Regent’s Board-level policy. A full time Master-Apprentice Instructor will be available to provide the spoken language to the apprentices in 3 courses each trimester. The Master-Apprentice Instructor must be able to teach on the College of the Muscogee Nation sites in Okmulgee, and other locations, as necessary. The instructor will be a cultural adviser for students and the Native American Studies program. The instructor must be highly proficient in speaking the Mvskoke language.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The provisions of the following Instructor duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Oversee a minimum of 3 courses a trimester.
2. Assist apprentices with vocabulary words.
3. Speak proficiently in the Mvskoke language on multiple topics.
4. Post office hours for students and public.
5. Provide services as requested by the department and College.
6. Assist with the cultural teaching skills.
7. Become knowledgeable of the assessment of student learning.

Functions

1. Follow the policies and procedures of the College of the Muscogee Nation and its Board of Regents.
2. Contribute to the development of courses and curriculum in their field.
3. Teach a minimum of 9 hours.
4. Assist with the design courses, syllabi, and lesson plans for each course being taught.
5. On unusual matters concerning program objectives and policy, must obtain guidance before taking action.
6. Must observe diligence with all academic deadlines such as (but not limited to) new-course submission deadlines, textbook orders, and grade submission.
7. Instructors must be open to periodic evaluations including classroom observations by senior academic affairs officers.
8. Must be a willing collaborator with instructors in other fields.
9. Able to work with Student Success Center as part of a team to protect the retention of the student.
10. Willing to speak the Mvskoke language to the entire CMN campus.
11. Serve on College committees.
12. Remain current in your field through professional development and periodical subscriptions.
13. Annual leave must be taken during breaks between trimesters and should not be taken during trimesters when classes are being held. Also, prior to and after the trimester, faculty must be available to start or complete their instructional responsibilities.
14. Any and all other duties assigned.
