Instructor, part-time (adjunct)
Summary
Part-time instructor teaches assigned college courses, designs lessons, evaluates students, and maintains records in a flexible, on-site role with no benefits.
Individuals interested in adjunct (part-time) teaching positions may submit their application to this future instructor applicant pool. Positions are not benefit eligible. The candidate should have the ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule and limited travel within service area.
Applicants must complete the online application in its entirety, including references.Hourly rate of pay is per contact hour of instruction and is the minimum hourly rate as outlined in the current fiscal year NC Community College State Aid Allocations and Budget Policies, currently ranging from $31.79 per contact hour (Vocational Diploma, Certificate, or Less), to $38.30 per contact hour (Doctoral degree).Applicants interested in teaching curriculum (for-credit) courses must attach an unofficial copy of all applicable post-secondary transcripts and/or certificates with their application. Applicants interested only in teaching through the College's Life Enrichment Program (Coordinator: Heather Boney) are not required to submit transcripts.
Applications will remain active for 12 months.Duties include:
Teaching and Learning:
- Teach courses assigned by the department chair and approved by the division dean.
- Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
- Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student learning outcomes.
- Electronically maintain and submit all required college records including attendance and grade reports, etc.
- Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
- Measure and report required student learning outcomes.
- Assist students in receiving needed instructional resources.
Curriculum Development:- Maintain, review, and update (as directed) course content, learning outcomes, and course syllabi
- Recommend course textbooks, supplies, equipment, and equipment repairs
- Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the course(s) in the area of expertise
- Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses/program
- Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
- Keep abreast of current technology.
Institutional Service:- Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
- Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
Community Relations:- Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
- Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college and the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- If curriculum (for credit): Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in area of instruction and/or demonstrated education, experience, and credential commensurate for the teaching discipline.
- All instructors in the area of Public Safety (EMS, Fire, BLET) must be qualified as established by the respective emergency services certifying agency.
Knowledge and Skills: The candidate will possess teaching and administrative skills leading to this level of responsibility. Demonstration of skill in communication, organization, and managing multiple priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community groups, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment.Carteret Community College is an EOE/E-verify employee.
