Instrumentation & Analyzer Engineer

Role Purpose

The Instrumentation & Analyzer Engineer provides hands-on technical support for environmental and industrial measurement equipment. The role covers installation and commissioning, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, basic repair, customer support and service documentation across customer sites. Full product training will be provided, making the position suitable for fresh graduates as well as candidates with early-career instrumentation or field service experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to customer and industrial sites to install, commission, calibrate, service, maintain and troubleshoot environmental and industrial measurement instruments and systems.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance, functional checks, diagnostics and basic repair of analysers, sensors, sampling systems, particulate monitors, data loggers and associated system components.

• Support a range of monitoring applications including Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Systems (AQMS), gas analysers, particulate emission monitors, meteorological instruments, process instruments and related data acquisition systems.

• Provide technical support to customers in system operation, configuration and basic fault diagnosis, both on site and remotely where appropriate.

• Carry out customer training on correct operation, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of supplied equipment and systems.

• Prepare complete and accurate service reports, commissioning/calibration records, maintenance documentation and other project records in a timely manner.

• Coordinate with APAQ/ENVEA technical support, applications and engineering teams, as well as equipment manufacturers, to resolve field issues and share lessons learned.

• Support field projects by coordinating with technicians, subcontractors and site personnel, ensuring work is carried out safely and properly.

• Support project management and execution including budget preparation and management, communication with clients, timeline management and project deliverables.

• Maintain and manage, including sourcing, procurement, storage and disposal, of inventories and service equipment including tools, hardware, gas cylinders, chemicals and PPEs.

• Provide technical support to sales and business development activities when required, including reviewing customer requirements and preparing basic technical information, system drawings or method statements.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or another related engineering/technical discipline.

• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, field service, environmental monitoring or industrial equipment support will be considered favourably.

• Internships, final-year projects or practical experience involving instrumentation, electronics, sensors, analysers, industrial systems or environmental monitoring are an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Basic understanding of electrical/electronic and instrumentation principles, with a willingness to develop strong hands-on troubleshooting skills.

• Comfortable using hand tools and standard test equipment, and handling gas cylinders, chemicals, small cable connectors, wiring, fittings and instrument components.

• Exposure to analysers, sensors, data loggers, sampling systems, industrial instrumentation or environmental monitoring equipment is an advantage, but product-specific experience is not required.

• Basic IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) for equipment checks, data handling and service/report documentation.

• Exposure to data communication protocols, system configuration software, wiring diagrams or technical drawings is an advantage.

• Able to read and follow technical manuals, procedures and safety instructions carefully.

• Flexible and adaptable to different customer sites, working environments and changing service priorities.

• Keen to learn, apply new technical knowledge and develop into a capable instrumentation/service engineer.

• Safety-conscious and comfortable performing hands-on work at industrial sites. The role may require climbing ladders or working at height in accordance with site safety requirements.

Travel

• Occasional regional travel may be required for factory training, customer support or project assignments.
