Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician

We’re looking for an Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to help our team deliver safe, innovative monitoring solutions for major infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you’ll assist with installing, calibrating, and maintaining geotechnical and structural monitoring systems. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and engineers, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technology and diverse projects across New Zealand.

Ngā kawenga matua I Key Responsibilities

This is a predominantly field-based role where you can expect to:

  • Assist with installation and calibration of geotechnical and structural instruments.

  • Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of monitoring systems.

  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment in a range of different urban and rural environments.

  • Perform data collection and basic configuration of data loggers and acquisition systems.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of installation, calibration, and maintenance activities.

  • Help support and maintain the integrity of IoT-based monitoring data systems and platforms.

  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols, reporting incidents or hazards promptly.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure appropriate scope and timely and accurate monitoring.

Ko wai koe | About you

You’re curious, practical, and eager to learn. You enjoy working outdoors and solving technical challenges.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A diploma or certificate in civil engineering, mechatronics, instrumentation technology, surveying, earth sciences or similar.

  • Basic knowledge of sensors, data loggers, or monitoring systems.

  • Confidence using hand tools and working in varied site conditions.

  • A full driver’s licence and commitment to health and safety.

Experience in construction or monitoring is a bonus, but not essential—we’ll provide training and support to help you grow.
