Insurance Systems Engineer
Summary
We're looking for our first dedicated engineer for the insurance team - someone who wants to own the technical infrastructure behind how we price, analyze, and build insurance products. You'll build a truly great pricing engine, one that puts Lassie at the absolute top of the industry from a pricing perspective, and equip the insurance team with AI-powered analysis tooling and agents so they can move fast on pricing analysis and actuarial work without waiting on tech. Working closely with our tech team, you'll also contribute to projects across our insurance products more broadly - and to building something exceptional.
About Lassie
Pet parents have been stuck for too long with slow claims, confusing policies, and providers that treat their pet like a policy number instead of a member of the family. Lassie is the opposite: the go-to platform for managing every part of pet parenthood - health, insurance, payments, products, services and community - built around the pet and the people who love them. We've raised $75M in Series C, we're live in Sweden, Germany, France and the UK, and we're just getting started.
As a fast-growing scale-up, we hold ourselves to a high bar when it comes to our work: real ownership, fast execution, and decisions made like the business depends on them, because it does. Three values shape how we work:
- Speed Machine - we move fast while others hesitate
- Packed with Passion - we care deeply about our work and the pet parents we do it for
- Copied Since 2021 - we don't follow trends, we create them.
We look for people who already work this way: people who care deeply, deliver fast, and want to help set the standard the rest of the industry ends up following.
Tasks
- Own the pricing engine end to end: architecture, development, deployment, optimisation and maintenance
- Build AI-powered analysis tooling and agents that let the insurance team move faster on pricing analysis and actuarial work, without waiting on tech
- Build, improve and maintain high-frequency price updates, along with the monitoring and testing that let pricing changes ship fast with confidence, not risk
- Act as the technical counterpart to our tech team from within the insurance team
- Be scrappy and hands-on with whatever the work needs
- Help set the bar for insurance engineering quality and how insurance engineering works at Lassie
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a developer, with a track record of owning systems end to end
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or TypeScript, and comfortable working with data stores and warehouses like MongoDB and BigQuery
- Fluent in English, both speaking and writing
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Genuine analytical interest and drive for optimising pricing and winning customers
- High ability for shipping and learning extraordinarily quickly
- You take ownership without waiting to be told. You see what needs fixing and you fix it
- Bonus: Experience with AWS
Work-model: This role is based in Stockholm, where we work 3 days per week at the office.
