Purpose of the Role
The Intake Business Development Manager is responsible for driving intake growth across McGill’s operational footprint by developing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships, and aligning sales efforts with operational capacity. This role plays a critical part in expanding McGill’s presence in biosolids, composting, organics recycling, and waste diversion markets.

Position Summary
McGill Environmental Systems is seeking an action-oriented, highly motivated, and forward-thinking Intake Business Development Manager to support and expand our growing operations. This individual will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and strategically managing intake growth across a large geographic territory.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environmental services market. This role requires a self-starter capable of building trust with municipal, industrial, and private-sector customers while collaborating closely with internal teams to support long-term growth initiatives.

Territory
McGill’s operations footprint spans from New Jersey/Pennsylvania down through Virginia and North/South Carolina. Frequent regional travel is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
  • Identify and pursue new intake opportunities across biosolids, organics, composting, and recycling markets
  • Manage customer accounts with a focus on responsiveness and long-term partnership development
  • Coordinate with operations to align intake volumes with processing capacity
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and renewals
  • Monitor market conditions, disposal trends, transportation costs, and competitive activity
  • Partner with leadership on strategic growth and expansion efforts
  • Support RFP responses, proposals, and customer presentations
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline tracking, and reporting
  • Represent McGill at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings
  • Drive customer retention, upselling, and revenue growth

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in biosolids, composting, organics recycling, waste management, or related field
  • Strong understanding of waste, recycling, and composting markets preferred
  • Proven success managing municipal and industrial customer relationships
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer-service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned region

Preferred Experience
  • Established relationships within wastewater, environmental services, or recycling sectors
  • Knowledge of transportation logistics and disposal markets
  • Experience with RFPs, contract negotiations, and strategic account management
