Summary

Assesses and processes patient referrals for mental health services, completes intake paperwork, and collaborates with physicians to determine care plans in a psychiatric hospital setting.

JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN INTAKE CLINICIAN! PRN

The Assessment & Referral (Intake) Clinician is responsible for assisting in the process of responding to referrals and other requests for services and information. The A & R (Intake) Clinician assesses all ages and collaborates with a physician to determine a proper disposition. The A & R Clinician provides technical assistance to the discharge planning process, under the direction of the Director of A & R. The A & R (Intake) Clinician is often the first contact with the community and therefore excels at providing resources, and support to callers and walk-ins. The A & R Clinician provides general support to the case management program.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Admission paperwork is completed in accordance with hospital policy.
  2. Inquiry calls are documented and processed in accordance with A&R policies.
  3. Intake (EMTALA) log is completed with all information documented.
  4. Pre-certification is obtained in accordance with insurance requirements.
  5. Follow up calls are made to those failing to show up for appointments.
  6. Safety problems are identified and corrective actions taken.
  7. Medication is obtained after hours as ordered by the physician with proper documentation of drugs removed and accountability maintained.
  8. On call doctor is notified and assisted with patient interview.

Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

Education: Registered Nurse or Master’s Degree in a human relations field preferred.

Experience: Preferably two or more years’ experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric hospital setting including customer contact.

Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Georgia as a mental health professional recommended.

Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of the latest DSM and Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. Successful completion CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training to within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.

  • Ability to work with medical office equipment like multi-line phones, computers, printers, scanners, copiers, and fax machines
  • Conflict resolution and mediation
  • Knowledge of Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation and hospitals
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Team collaboration

Compensation:

This is a Full Time and Part Time roles are non-exempt and the expected compensation range is $23.00 per hour non-licensed or $26.00per hour licensed.
