JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an Integration & Automation Developer with a strong software development foundation and practical experience building business automations, system integrations, and data-driven reporting solutions.
This is a hands-on development role suited to someone who started their career in software, backend, integration, or systems development and has since gained experience with automation platforms such as Zapier, n8n, Make, or Power Automate.
You will build and maintain integrations between business systems, work with APIs and databases, automate data collection and processing, and develop reliable scheduled reporting solutions.
The ideal candidate is comfortable writing code independently, working with relational databases and SQL, troubleshooting production systems, and deciding when code is a better solution than a no-code automation platform.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Software Development & System Integration
- Develop and maintain integrations between CRM, finance, communication, and other business systems.
- Write and maintain code to support integrations, automation, data processing, and reporting requirements.
- Work with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, authentication, and third-party integrations.
- Extract, transform, validate, and move data between different business systems.
- Develop reliable solutions using appropriate programming languages such as Python, Node.js/JavaScript, C#, Java, or PHP.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and implement long-term solutions.
Data, Reporting & Dashboards
- Extract data from systems such as CRM platforms through APIs and other available data sources.
- Build scheduled processes that collect and store data in relational databases.
- Design and maintain database tables and write SQL queries, joins, and data transformations.
- Create reliable datasets that support historical reporting, trend analysis, and reconciliation.
- Build or support scheduled reports and business dashboards.
- Ensure reporting data is accurate, consistent, and traceable back to source systems.
Automation
- Design, build, test, and maintain business process automations.
- Work with platforms such as Zapier, n8n, Make, Power Automate, or similar tools.
- Maintain and improve existing automations and integrations.
- Identify when an automation platform is appropriate and when a coded solution would be more reliable or scalable.
- Implement appropriate validation, error handling, logging, monitoring, and alerts.
- Investigate and resolve failures in production workflows.
AI & Continuous Improvement
- Support practical AI integrations where they provide business value, including LLM APIs and AI-assisted workflows.
- Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual processes through development and automation.
- Document integrations, workflows, databases, and technical processes.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
Requirements
- Approximately 3–6 years of professional software development, backend development, integration engineering, data engineering, RPA development, or similar experience.
- Professional programming experience, ideally established before the widespread adoption of AI coding tools.
- Strong coding fundamentals in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript/Node.js, C#, Java, or PHP.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience designing database tables and working with queries, joins, and structured datasets.
- Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and system integrations.
- Experience building scheduled processes that extract data from APIs or business systems and store it in a database.
- Professional experience with at least one automation platform such as Zapier, n8n, Make, or Power Automate.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining systems or automations in a production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Zapier.
- Pipedrive or other CRM platforms.
- Dashboard and BI tools such as Power BI, Metabase, Looker Studio, or Grafana.
- Python for data processing and automation.
- AI model APIs such as OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini.
- Professional services or Australian business experience.
