About the Position: This Interdisciplinary GS-XXXX-14 position that serves as the Operations Project Manager for the Mountain Home Project office with the USACE Little Rock District. Duty location for position is Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Serves as Operations Project Manager with responsibility for the overall management, coordination, and direction of the diverse programs and functions of two large, multi-purpose projects with hydropower.
Directs a complex, multi-tiered organization through a network of subordinate supervisors, exercising the full range of second-level supervisory and managerial authorities, including making budget determinations and controlling spending.
Represents the District's senior leadership on regional and national working groups to shape U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) operational policy and develop USACE-wide initiatives.
Responsible for dam safety assurance for a major water retention structure, including executing the dam surveillance program, the project Emergency Action Plan, and downstream public notification in the event of an uncontrolled water release.
Representative and official on issues related to watershed management policies, making commitments that are considered authoritative and binding during public meetings, media interviews, and interactions with congressional delegations.
Supervises and directs GS-12 or higher-level work performed by a subordinate staff of professionals and specialists (e.g., engineers, natural resource management specialists), spending upwards of 50% of the time on technical and controversial issues.
