Interior Technical Designer

As an Interior Technical Designer on the Perkins&Will team, your skills and passion will come to life through the following responsibilities:

• Plays a crucial role in bringing our design visions to life by providing technical expertise, developing detailed drawings, and ensuring that design concepts are seamlessly translated into built environments while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in interior design, execution and living design.
• Collaborates closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive design solutions that align with project goals, client expectations, and project budgets.
• Provides project team coordination for plans, details, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the design documents.
• In partnership with Designer Director and Design Principal, coordinates integration of basic systems into the overall project design.
• Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
• Utilizes Revit, and other relevant software to produce detailed technical drawings, design documents, and specifications for interior spaces.
• Coordinates with consultants, contractors, and vendors to integrate technical requirements, building codes, and regulatory standards into the design process.
• Reviews and analyzes accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of projects to ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards.
• Participate in site visits and construction phase services, monitoring project progress, identifying design-related issues, and helping maintain quality standards during execution.
• Stays up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in interior design and technical documentation to enhance expertise and contribute to continuous improvement.

Please note that while this position primarily focuses on technical aspects of interior design, all team members are expected to contribute to various facets of our projects as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, taking on design or technical tasks outside your primary area of focus. • Knowledge of local building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
• Translate the design concept from the CONCEPT/SD phase into a technically feasible and buildable solution, ensuring that the design intent is fully preserved and not compromised, while assessing the overall constructability of the design.
• Experienced in resolving conflicts between complex design forms, material details, and practical implementation, while collaborating with the design team to find the right balance between design intent and construction feasibility.
• Experience in construction document preparation and field observation
