A bold, fun & fast-growing Software Consultancy in Centurion seeks a self-driven Intermediate Java Developer who is a strong communicator to fill a 12-Month Contract role. Your core focus will be building and maintaining Java services on a large-scale telecoms billing and operations platform while writing and optimising complex SQL across multiple database engines. The ideal candidate will require a suitable tertiary IT qualification such as a BSc. Computer Science or IT Degree with 4-6 years commercial Java development experience including J2EE, Spring, MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ, Git & Postman proficiency.
DUTIES:
· Build and maintain Java services on a large-scale telecoms billing and operations platform.
· Write and optimise complex SQL across multiple database engines.
· Deploy and support containerised services on Linux.
· Integrate systems through message queues and enterprise integration patterns.
· Facilitate FAT and UAT sessions directly with customer teams.
· Deliver in a Scrum/Agile team working in Git.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
· A relevant IT qualification - BSc Computer Science, BSc IT or similar.
Experience/Skills –
· 4 to 6 Years’ commercial Java development experience.
· Strong Java, including J2EE and Spring.
· Deep SQL: complex, optimised queries across MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
· Linux and Bash - scripting, server administration and deployments.
· Docker and Kubernetes deployment experience.
· Message queueing with RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ.
· J2EE containers and web servers.
· Git, plus Scrum/Agile delivery.
· Testing exposure: FAT, UAT facilitation and Postman.
