Intermediate java developer (spring boot, sql)

A payments technology company in Cape Town is looking for an Intermediate Java Developer to join its growing engineering team. This is a hybrid role.

You'll work across the full delivery cycle - building integrations with client and third-party systems, designing and building new functionality, enhancing and maintaining existing systems, and resolving third-line technical queries. It is hands-on backend work on secure, high-volume transaction systems, with room to improve how the team builds.

What you’ll do Build and maintain integrations with client and third-party systems Design and develop new functionality Enhance and maintain current systems Development testing, system security and audits Third-line query resolution Improve development techniques and processes What you’ll need A tertiary qualification (or equivalent training) in software development, computer science or engineering 3-8 years' hands-on development experience Java (Standard and Enterprise editions) and Spring Boot SQL (MS SQL Server or Postgre SQL) A modern build and version-control workflow (Maven, Git) in a continuous integration and testing environment Comfortable with REST / Open API-based integrations Nice to have Exposure to financial transaction processing systems Multi-threaded, high-volume, real-time systems Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban) Front-end experience with Angular
