Intermediate or Senior JavaScript Engineer (Auckland, New Zealand)
THE ROLE:
As our new ‘Accordo Cloud Optimizer’ product is launching globally, we are now looking for an experienced Intermediate or Senior JavaScript Engineer to join the talented developers and QA teams within our Product Group at Accordo. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will work collaboratively with others and utilize modern technologies to achieve excellence, whilst also sharing ideas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the squad to break down stories in to manageable tasks, and provide accurate story point estimates.
- Develop tasks to a high quality and see them through to a finished state within a sprint, whilst providing mentoring for junior members of the squad.
- Share ideas across squads and encourage others to do the same.
- Responsible for designing and developing integration points in the back-end using nodeJS and working with Elasticsearch, unit testing, debugging new and / or existing software, performance tuning and optimization of existing code.
- Be back-end focused and work with Data, Software Testing, Development teams, and other individuals / parties to ensure development requirements are fully documented and agreed.
- Takes ownership of your daily workload by prioritising allocated workload.
- Adhere to defined Accordo operations, processes and procedures, and correctly use Accordo’s internal systems.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years’ commercial software development experience.
- Proven ability to develop large scale, complex applications.
- In depth knowledge of the following technologies – JavaScript, nodeJS, Mocha-Chai testing, Postman, Elasticsearch etc.
- Serverless architecture experience – AWS lambda functions.
- Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
- Up to date with the latest techniques and technologies, creative ideas with problem solving mindset.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own work to meet agreed objectives.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Be a positive, willing, contributing and adaptable member of the team at all times.
- Work from English verbal and written instructions of varying levels of detail.
- Ability to take direction from all levels and exhibit a high level of individual initiative.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to clearly articulate the implementation of new processes to an internal and external audience.
- Work with a sense of urgency, be organised and methodical.
- Able to work with a diverse array of people and build successful working relationships.
- Ability to work in a diverse team, fast-paced, dynamic and agile environment, and flexible and adaptable to change.
