Intern - Industrial Engineering
Based at Linea Clothing, Kandy
The Autonomation Intern will support the engineering and production teams in implementing automation and process improvement initiatives. The intern will assist in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and enhance production performance through automation and smart manufacturing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in analyzing production processes to identify automation opportunities.
- Support the implementation of autonomation (automation with human intelligence) solutions in manufacturing operations.
- Help monitor and improve machine performance and production efficiency.
- Assist engineers in testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated systems.
- Collect and analyze production and machine data to support process improvements.
- Support projects related to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports, and improvement proposals.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Hands-on exposure to industrial automation and smart manufacturing systems.
- Experience working with engineering and production teams.
- Understanding of process optimization and productivity improvement in manufacturing environments.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Basic understanding of automation systems, sensors, and production equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC basics, robotics, or industrial automation is an advantage.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or technical software).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Industry 4.0 concepts.
- Basic programming or automation knowledge (PLC / Arduino / robotics).
- Interest in manufacturing process optimization.
