Course Eligibility: Sligo - ATU Occupational Health &Safety
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Intern supporting the EHS team in maintaining and improving workplace risk controls. The role involves reviewing and updating risk assessments, supporting exposure monitoring programs, delivering safety training, conducting area audits, monitoring containment breach responses, and contributing to HSE communications and employee wellness initiatives to promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic reviews and updates of general risk assessments to ensure controls remain current and effective
- Perform periodic review of chemical risk assessments, identifying gaps and recommending control improvements
- Support quantitative exposure assessment monitoring, including data collection, analysis, and follow-up on exposure trends
- Deliver training sessions on manual handling techniques and respirator fit testing
- Carry out area audits to identify hazards, verify compliance, and track corrective actions
- Support area clearance monitoring following containment breaches, helping confirm exposure levels are within safe limits before areas are returned to normal operation
- Support HSE communications, promotion, and awareness campaigns to drive engagement with safety initiatives across the site
- Support the Wellness team with their activities and programs, contributing to broader employee health and wellbeing efforts
