Internship Commodity Accounting & Reporting d/f/m

To start as soon as possible, full time, fixed term (min. 6 months)
This internship gives you hands-on experience at the intersection of commodity trading, accounting and data analytics at one of Europe’s leading energy trading companies. You will learn how trading transactions move from commercial performance reporting into financial reporting under IFRS and local accounting standards.
Working alongside experienced colleagues across Commodity Accounting, Accounting Principles, Data Management and Trading, you will develop practical accounting knowledge while contributing to process improvement and data-driven decision-making.
About the role
- Support day-to-day operational and project-related activities within the Commodity Accounting & Reporting team.
- Contribute to actual month-end and quarter-end closing activities and gain practical experience in financial reporting in an international team.
- Work with large and complex datasets to help improve data quality, consistency and transparency across trading systems.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives by supporting automation and data analytics.
- Maintain project documentation, track progress and follow up on agreed actions.
Job requirements and experience
- Currently enrolled in an advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree programme in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- First practical experience in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Audit or a related financial function.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with a strong interest in financial analysis and business performance.
- A proactive, open and collaborative approach, with the confidence to question assumptions and raise potential risks or opportunities.
Advantageous, but not essential
- Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP and business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
- A proactive mindset, eagerness to learn and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
