Be part of the solution at Technip Energies and embark on a one-of-a-kind journey. You will be helping to develop cutting-edge solutions to solve real-world energy problems.

About us:

Technip Energies is a global technology and engineering powerhouse. With leadership position in LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO2 management, we are contributing to the development of critical markets such as energy, energy derivatives, decarbonization, and circularity. Our complementary business segments, Technology, Products and Services (TPS) and Project Delivery, turn innovation into scalable and industrial reality.

Through collaboration and excellence in execution, our 18,000+ employees across 35 countries are fully committed to bridging prosperity with sustainability for a world designed to last.

About the mission we offer you:

Within the Industrial Safety department, you will join the HSE Design team—composed of Industrial Safety, Risk Quantification, and Environment & Health engineers—to work on issues related to the prevention, control, and protection against industrial risks on projects developed by Technip Energies (oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, hydrogen, ammonia, mining & metals, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy).

Your primary points of contact will be the HSE Design team, as well as other disciplines within Technip Energies, such as Instrumentation.

During your internship, you will work on fire and gas detection. The primary objective of a detection system is to detect a gas leak or the early signs of a fire as early as possible, so that the necessary measures to alert operators and secure the facilities can be activated, thereby limiting the consequences. As a result, fire and gas detection is one of the key components of the preventive measures implemented in facilities designed by Technip Energies to ensure the protection of operators, the environment, and the facilities themselves. Optimizing the placement of detectors is also critical in terms of managing capital expenditures and operating costs.

“Fire & Gas mapping” studies are used to model and evaluate the effectiveness of detection systems using two approaches: geographic and scenario-based. Several software programs allow users to position detectors and verify their coverage performance. The training course aims to develop the scenario-based approach and provide a better understanding of these analyses and the associated software tools.

As an intern, your various responsibilities will include:

• Understand the fundamentals of fire and gas detection technologies.
• Examine the methodologies, assumptions, criteria, and results of past and ongoing Fire & Gas Mapping studies (including an assessment of quantitative discrepancies between detectors in the initial phase and the results from “Fire & Gas Mapping” simulations).
• Conduct a literature review on the work and advancements made in the field of “Fire & Gas Mapping.”
• Become familiar with modeling tools such as in:Flux.
• Perform simulations and sensitivity analyses.
• Propose improvements to methodologies and tool usage, as well as optimizations to detection system design.
• Prepare a summary to document the conclusions and recommendations.

You will work closely with specialists in risk quantification and safety engineering.

These activities will give you an understanding of the role of an Industrial Safety Engineer within the HSE Design team at Technip Energies Paris.

Starting Date: February or March 2027

Duration : 6 months

About you:

We love to hear from you and how you match with this position. To be successful in this mission you should consider the following requirements:
