Internship / Master Thesis: Automated Design Workflow for Spacecraft Valve Actuators
deltavision Internship / Master Thesis: Automated Design Workflow for Spacecraft Valve Actuators
Description
This position can be extended into a thesis project.
- Develop a coupled structural and electromagnetic FEM design workflow for solenoid actuators
- Implement solvers with the open-source framework FEniCSx / DOLFINx for two use cases:
- A 2D axisymmetric solver for coupled electromagnetic and structural optimization
- A 3D solver to validate the structural and electromagnetic performance of the final design
- Validate the solvers numerically against standard benchmark cases and against results from deltaVision's current simulation tools
- Optionally, validate structural and electromagnetic results experimentally
- Currently enrolled in a relevant engineering program, ideally Computational Mechanics, Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science, or a similar field
- Demonstrated software development experience (e.g., working student jobs, engineering projects, or a thesis)
- Motivated, pragmatic, and self-organized
- Fluent in English; German and other languages are a plus
- Internship can be mandatory or voluntary
- Above average remuneration
- Guided but self-determined problem solving to realize your ideas
- Deep dive into the domain of commercial spaceflight and mobility
