Internship: Robotic Solution for Test Automation of a Contrast Media Injector

Background and Motivation

Contrast media injectors are safety-critical medical devices used in CT and MRI imaging. Verification of their performance is essential but remains largely manual, making testing time-consuming and prone to variability.

A robotic test system is already implemented and operational. The next step is to expand its capabilities: enabling it to autonomously execute test protocols, increase flexibility. This project focuses on advancing the existing robotic platform into an intelligent and configurable test automation system for contrast media injectors.

Objectives

• Program the existing robotic system to autonomously execute structured test protocols.

• Develop a flexible software framework to configure and run different test sequences.

• Expand the robot’s capabilities to cover additional test scenarios and edge cases.

• Quantify efficiency gains and reproducibility compared to manual testing.
