Description
We are seeking a skilled and professional Interpreter to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria. The ideal candidate will facilitate effective communication between parties who speak different languages, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation.
- Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services for various settings, including conferences, meetings, and legal proceedings
- Accurately convey spoken messages from one language to another, maintaining the speaker's tone and intent
- Prepare for assignments by researching subject matter and terminology
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information encountered during interpretation sessions
- Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure smooth communication flow
- Adapt quickly to different accents, dialects, and speaking styles
- Stay updated on cultural nuances and current events relevant to the languages and regions of expertise
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments
- Fluency in at least two international languages, with native or near-native proficiency
- Bachelor's degree in linguistics, translation studies, or a related field
- Professional certification in interpretation (preferred)
- Proven experience as an interpreter in various settings (conferences, meetings, legal proceedings, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in all working languages
- Strong listening and comprehension abilities
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness to ensure appropriate interpretation
- Proficiency in both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation techniques
- Knowledge of specialized terminology in relevant fields (e.g., legal, medical, business)
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in challenging situations
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in word processing, email, and online research
- Willingness to travel as needed for assignments
