Intervention Center Specialist
Summary
Provides behavioral intervention and support to students in Stanislaus County schools, using de-escalation techniques and restorative practices to address disruptive behavior and promote wellness.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting student behavioral growth and success at schools throughout Stanislaus County by providing individualized intervention services, de-escalation support, and restorative practices to students referred to the Intervention Center
DUTIES:
- Provide intervention services to students referred to the Intervention Center due to inappropriate or disruptive school behavior
- Meet individually with students to enhance wellness and life skills such as:
- Wellness promotion and education
- Mental health literacy
- Goal setting/planning
- Behavior activation, distraction strategies, and emotional regulation
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and restorative justice practices to support conflict resolution and student growth
- Screening, such as:
- Supporting youth in completing behavioral health screenings
- Administering universal screening programs in schools or other community-based organizations per SAMHSA guidelines under the direction of qualified professionals.
- Identifying and referring behavioral health needs of youth to behavioral health providers in school or broader organization setting
- Care coordination and extension, such as:
- Connecting individuals to internal and external behavioral health resources as needed
- Facilitating communication with other professionals providing support and care to youth
- Providing additional support to providers, caregivers, school, or broader organization personnel
- Navigating crisis including:
- Using a standardized protocol, respond to signs of crisis in the school or broader organization setting
- Identifying potential risks and referring to the on-site behavioral health provider
- Providing emotional support and engaging in warm handoffs with on-site behavioral health providers for youth that are waiting to be seen for crisis services
- Responsible for collecting and completing statistical information, case files, program forms and providing appropriate and accurate documentation per program requirements and agency needs.
- Responsible for completing contract hours as assigned.
- Responsible for implementation of projects as assigned by Supervisor.
