Inventory Control Area Manager

The Inventory Control Area Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management within the Distribution Center. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records, developing and implementing inventory control procedures, and ensuring the efficient flow of products through the warehouse. The Inventory Control Manager works closely with other departments to ensure optimal inventory levels, minimize discrepancies, and support the overall efficiency and productivity of the distribution center.

Inventory Management:

  • Develop, implement, and manage inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Coordinate or conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and adjustments

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare and present regular inventory reports to management
  • Utilize inventory management software to track and manage inventory levels

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvement, create plans for review and implement approved changes to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline inventory processes and improve overall distribution center operations
  • Lead continuous efforts with your direct reports in areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Culture

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead the inventory control team, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment
  • Ensure staff adherence to inventory control procedures and safety regulations

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all inventory control activities are conducted in a safe manner
  • Manage inventory-related risks and implement appropriate controls

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration strongly preferred or equivalent demonstrated years of career progression.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably within a distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Proven experience through examples of serving as an effective change management agent.
  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong analytical, best practice identification, problem-solving and standardization skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and abilities.
  • Proficient in inventory management processes, tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Outstanding leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
