Summary
Conducts sensitive internal investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct and retaliation, using trauma-informed methods and best practices to interview witnesses, gather evidence, and draft findings for government compliance.
The incumbent will conduct prompt, impartial, & thorough internal investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct (SM) & related retaliation per Departmental orders & policy. Using trauma-informed methods & best practices in the field of SM, the incumbent will collaborate with components & monitor efforts to ensure that all individuals who are engaged in receiving or responding to reports of SM have received proper training on trauma-informed victim-centered investigatory approaches.
The duties and responsibilities for an Investigator, GS-1810-14, generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Conduct prompt, impartial, and thorough internal investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct and related retaliation per Departmental orders and policy Serve as an Investigator in the SMRU with primary responsibility for conducting sensitive and complex internal investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct and related allegations of retaliation Conduct witness interviews, gather evidence, document timeline compliance, and make findings of fact that can be used to determine by a preponderance of the evidence if sexual misconduct or related retaliation occurred in violation of the Department's orders and other DOJ policies governing sexual misconduct Draft comprehensive reports for review by the Director, prior to delivering the report to the senior component management Develop training for the Department by employing best practices for handling sexual misconduct reports, including training on the neurobiology of trauma to improve information gathering, stronger investigations, victim trust, and better investigative outcomes
