As a valued intern on our Investment Accounting team, you will be given real meaningful work as well as support and guidance from our employees and leadership as you continue to develop your skills, gain industry knowledge, and build a strong foundation for your future career.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Monitor daily investment activity within the investment accounting tool, Clearwater

  • Monitor month-to-date investment activity within the investment accounting tool and corresponding market activity for the period and assist in summarizing information in the weekly portfolio overview

  • Prepare monthly investment reconciliations, including custodian, Clearwater and Workday reconciliations

  • Prepare and post monthly investment journal entries on a GAAP and statutory basis for six insurance companies

  • Assist in the coordination amongst various banks and state insurance departments for necessary investment transactions and account maintenance

  • Maintain procedural documentation for assigned responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Strong academic performance, including completion of introductory accounting and/or finance courses and a basic understanding of accounting and finance principles

  • Interested in learning more about and working in the property & casualty insurance market

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility

  • Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible

Experience:

  • Current junior or senior actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance, CPA pursuing preferred

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks
