Investment Manager
Job purpose
Supervise and coordinate the development of ADNOC Drilling's corporate business plan and ensure that the resulting work program is consistent with ADNOC Drilling's objectives and the corporate business plan guidelines. Contribute towards the strategic and integrated planning and carry out business analyses. Conduct business and cost analyses for new build projects, equipment and services, and rig rates. Carry out feasibility studies, investment appraisals, and pre-project and post-project evaluation and studies. Direct and participate in the provision of management reporting and support activities including the development of the corporate activity reports. Follow up on the achievement of long term planning objectives, work programs, and targets. Provide and coordinate analytical, technical, and financial support to various parts of the company. Produce business and technical analysis and prepare studies and reports on critical issues. Review all new budget proposals and provide management with recommendations, guidance on amendments, and approvals. Recommend implementation of best available practices for project appraisal and evaluation. Participate in preparation of commercial proposals based on tender requirements. Advise management on rate proposals, commercial viability of projects, and preparation of long term business plans. Integrate project planning and manage strategic projects, review, update, and follow-up progress.

- Supervise and control the activities of assigned personnel in the corporate planning department. Perform supervisory functions and exercise financial authority at the level established for the position.
- Supervise and coordinate the development of ADNOC Drilling's corporate business plan to establish medium and long term strategies and work programs for operations and projects. Provide guidance and expertise to divisions in establishing realistic achievable work programs and expenditure plans within prescribed time frames.
- Review and evaluate ADNOC Drilling’s major investment and commercial proposals and prepare reports for management on the viability of the project together with any benefits that would be brought to ADNOC Drilling. Present the outcome to management to negotiate with ADNOC Drilling’s clients and when required attend negotiation meetings to get best rates.
- Coordinate management review of capital and operating forecasts and ensure their consistency with the business plan. Supervise, direct, and follow-up implementation of the approved business plan and work program.
- Provide professional analytical, financial, and technical support to senior management and all divisions. Prepare and produce business plan materials on financial and technical matters to be discussed at board meetings.
- Advise management and end users about commercial and pricing decisions and on the best available options.
- Carry out studies or receive and review proposals and reports for company’s major capital procurement plans such as buy or rent new rigs, rigs replacement or rigs renewal, upgrade rigs, build accommodations or camps, purchase versus rental scenarios and recommend the most appropriate option.
- Conduct analytical explanations and clarifications on ADNOC Drilling client’s queries regarding ADNOC Drilling rates and offers to satisfy them.
- Conduct analytical tasks or review proposals for various activities within ADNOC Drilling. This includes financial proposals for commercial activities including IT related activities, operational requirements, drilling services requirements, safety requirements, budgets, etc.
- Review and evaluate ADNOC Drilling short term and long term plans for commercial activities and provide management with independent appraisals.
- Search through academic and professional resources on the best available practices of projects appraisal and evaluation, implement them, and ensure that these practices are implemented as planned.
- Monitor the drilling industry rates in regional and international markets by conducting market research and developing regional competitor’s database.
- Review and evaluate various options for the procurement or hiring of major equipment and services and advise management of the best possible option. Liaise with different divisions on various issues related to organisation’s financial and commercial activities and provide them with guidance, reports, advice, options for review, and decision-making support.
- Review various reports of ADNOC Drilling’s major commercial activities, analyse and report to management on the risks. Recommend actions aimed at minimising the risks and revisit the activity for review purposes on a periodic basis.
- Perform related duties as assigned, such as attending meetings related to commercial and financial activities on behalf of the division, reporting major issues to the immediate supervisor, maintaining accurate files and records.
- Oversee and supervise preparation of the presentation of ADNOC Drilling’s business plan to executive management team and board of advisory committee. Recommend and implement changes to the presentation where considered necessary.
- Coordinate the management review of capital and operating forecasts and ensure their consistency with the business plan. Supervise, direct, and follow-up implementation of the approved business plan work program.
- Provide professional analytical and technical support to immediate supervisor when requested. Prepare associated documentation to present information to management in such a way that it can be easily comprehended and using graphical means wherever possible.
- Develop and lead business improvement initiatives, examining all avenues of the improvements. Discuss suggestions with the originators and develop the concepts identified to their fullest extent. Prepare presentations where necessary to appraise senior management levels of the benefits, drawbacks, and costs or cost savings associated with the initiative.
- Ensure that adequate support is provided to divisions during preparation of the divisional business plans. Ensure that adequate and ongoing training and guidance is provided to divisional planning units. Provide and supervise ongoing training and development for all associated staff.
- Participate in special financial and management control reviews related to all phases and stages of capital and operating budgets.
- Plan and participate in the ongoing training and development of assigned national staff. Review manpower levels and organisational proposals for acceptability, discussing the same with divisional heads where necessary. Monitor the performance of national staff and undertake counselling of the employees in conjunction with human capital staff.
- Monitor the integrated project planning and management of strategic projects, review, update, follow-up, and ensure influencing progress.
- Ensure that major projects are consolidated with right costs including Capex, Opex, Human Capital, logistics, HSE, materials, etc. in accordance with the scope of works.
- Develop and lead business improvement initiatives throughout ADNOC Drilling.
- Participate in special financial and management control reviews related to all phases of capital and operating budgets, project development and timing, organisation and manpower effectiveness, and management reporting processes.
- Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client asset integrity management codes of practice.
Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills
- Minimum qualification
Bachelor degree in business administration, economics or equivalent. - Minimum experience & knowledge & skills
12 years of experience in corporate planning in a major financial or oil and gas industry, carrying out feasibility studies and project analyses, out of which 4 years at supervisory level.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Fluency in English language with strong communications and interpersonal skills.
Must be computer literate, with excellent skills in commercial application packages.
