IT 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for an experienced IT 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer with appropriate IT certifications and hands-on experience.
  • We expect advanced skills with Azure AD, Entra ID, and Exchange Online/O365 environments.
  • You should have strong knowledge of network management, design principles, and implementation, including TCP/IP, traffic routing, DNS, VLAN, WAN, firewalls, switches, and load balancing.
  • You should have experience with server management and design principles in physical and virtual environments, including WANs, LANs, and network troubleshooting.
  • You should have experience supporting Windows Server 2016/19/22, including Active Directory and DHCP.
  • You should have experience with Mobile Device Management, ideally Intune.
  • You should be proficient with Microsoft desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office software, together with relevant productivity tools.
  • You should have knowledge of backup management and disaster recovery or business continuity planning.
  • You should have experience with Windows Server, Windows 11, SQL Server, O365 and Admin Center, and cloud backup systems.
  • You should have a good understanding of ISO27001 and ISO22301, including writing policies and participating in audits.
  • You should have a good understanding of Cyber Essentials Plus and have participated in Cyber Essentials Plus audits.
  • Several years of experience in a similar role, including networking, firewalls, PowerShell, and cyber security best practices, is an advantage.
  • Industry-relevant qualifications such as Microsoft certifications, networking certifications such as CCNA, and ITIL Foundation V3 or V4 would be beneficial.
  • You should be a pragmatic, charismatic, proactive, and self-motivated person with excellent communication skills and a service-first mindset.
Responsibilities:
  • We will have you assist our IT Manager across all areas of IT support, including managing our Managed Services Partner.
  • You will help ensure incident and request SLA targets are met and that support documentation is adequate, up to date, and available to all.
  • You will assist our MSP with support tickets, prioritising them appropriately and acting on them directly where needed.
  • You will support problem management and ongoing incidents through diagnosis, trend analysis, root cause identification, documentation, and resolution.
  • You will help provide a highly available and resilient IT environment, ensuring appropriate controls, contingencies, and disaster recovery solutions are in place.
  • You will help ensure compliance with our IT security policy standards, including encryption, secure disposal, build hardening, monitoring, patching, and access controls.
  • You will assist with the management of MDM platforms.
  • You will support our annual Cyber Essentials Plus audit and ensure systems and processes meet the required standards.
  • You will assist with ISO27001 information security assessments and ISO22301 requirements.
  • You will help the IT Manager with monthly reporting on MSP performance to support analysis and productivity improvements.
  • You will assist in managing the MSP to ensure desktops and laptops are secured, upgraded, and kept up to date.
  • You will contribute to continuous improvement by updating knowledge bases and encouraging self-service.
  • You will monitor alerting systems proactively to prevent service impacts and identify security incidents.
