IT Administrator
Summary
Manages and supports IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, cybersecurity, and end-user support across multiple locations in a manufacturing environment.
- Administer and maintain on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure.
- Manage Windows servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, backups, and enterprise applications.
- Support VMware environments, including virtual machine provisioning, performance monitoring, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Manage backup, recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Monitor infrastructure availability, capacity, and performance.
- Maintain system configurations, asset records, technical documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks.
- Administer LAN, WAN, wireless, and inter-site connectivity.
- Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, VLANs, subnetting, routing, and network segmentation.
- Support site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
- Manage Aruba wireless environments, including Aruba Central and ClearPass.
- Assist with network deployments, upgrades, modernization initiatives, and infrastructure projects.
- Perform network troubleshooting and packet analysis using tools such as Wireshark.
- Administer Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, networking, identity, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and hybrid identity environments.
- Support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Defender.
- Manage user accounts, groups, licenses, access permissions, and authentication policies.
- Support cloud security, compliance, and endpoint management initiatives.
- Administer firewalls, secure web gateways, endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, and secure-access solutions.
- Manage security policies, including NAT, ACLs, threat prevention, web filtering, and access controls.
- Support Cisco FMC, Sophos, Cisco Umbrella, Duo, and Microsoft Defender environments.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to infrastructure and security incidents.
- Work with cybersecurity teams to implement security baselines, remediate vulnerabilities, and improve the organization’s security posture.
- Support identity, authentication, network segmentation, and zero-trust security practices.
- Provide technical support and escalation assistance for hardware, software, network, account, and access-related issues.
- Troubleshoot complex incidents affecting users, systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Manage endpoint deployment, configuration, patching, and lifecycle activities.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical outages and security incidents.
- Follow ITIL-based incident, request, problem, and change-management practices.
- Coordinate with technology vendors, service providers, and external support partners.
- Assist with purchasing, licensing, renewals, warranties, and asset lifecycle management.
- Communicate technical issues, risks, and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders.
- Support infrastructure projects, office deployments, upgrades, and technology improvements.
- Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, or a similar technical role.
- Strong experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Experience with virtualization platforms, preferably VMware.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, switching, VPNs, and wireless networking.
- Experience administering firewalls, endpoint-security tools, MFA, and secure-access technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to participate in scheduled after-hours work and an on-call rotation when required.
- Experience with Aruba networking, Aruba Central, or ClearPass.
- Experience with Cisco FMC, Sophos, Cisco Umbrella, or Duo.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft Defender.
- Experience with Cohesity, Clumio, or similar backup platforms.
- Familiarity with BGP, hybrid-cloud connectivity, and enterprise network architecture.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as WhatsUp Gold.
- Knowledge of ITIL, change management, cybersecurity frameworks, and infrastructure governance.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Cisco, Aruba, VMware, CompTIA, or ITIL are considered an asset.
- Ability to manage and support multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills – listening, clarifying, understanding, speaking and facilitating.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
- 5+ years of related experience
- Usually work in an office, plant and lab environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
- Standard work week, but additionally may work evening, weekends, and additional hours to accommodate activities and priorities. This position is not eligible for Overtime pay.
- Domestic travel may be required – must have valid driver’s license.
- Generally requires low physical demands.
