Summary

Part-time (24–28 hrs/week) first IT hire at Statusphere: owns day-to-day IT support, MDM (Iru/Kandji), SSO/MFA, Google Workspace administration, device onboarding/inventory, and builds documented, automated IT processes with a path toward SOC 2 compliance. Mostly remote with occasional on-site work in Orlando.

Statusphere is seeking its first dedicated IT hire to build and maintain the foundation that keeps our team equipped, secure, and productive as we scale. You will take ownership of IT operations, transforming ad-hoc work into documented, repeatable, and automated systems. Reporting initially to the VP of Engineering, and later to the SVP of Engineering & Technology, you will partner closely with HR, Finance, Operations, and Engineering to shape how IT scales with our growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys building processes from scratch, and takes pride in making technology work seamlessly for others.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide day-to-day IT support across the organization, troubleshooting hardware, software, account, and connectivity issues, escalating when needed, and building a scalable ticketing and knowledge base process
  • Assess current IT and security posture, maintain a 6–12 month IT roadmap, and own tooling recommendations and the IT budget in partnership with Engineering leadership and the COO/CFO
  • Own and configure the MDM platform (Iru, formerly Kandji), including enrollment, configuration profiles, patching, app deployment, and compliance policies; define a baseline for Windows devices as needed; recommend BYOD and conditional access policies
  • Administer SSO and enforce MFA; manage the password manager (1Password); run periodic access reviews; support provisioning and review processes for production AWS and application-level access
  • Identify repetitive work and automate it using tools like n8n, Google Workspace admin tooling, and MDM workflows; draft and maintain IT policies (acceptable use, device standards, personal device use, access management)
  • Run phishing and security awareness training; help employees understand and follow IT policies
  • Act as first responder for compromised endpoints or user accounts, handling quarantine, investigation, and documentation
  • Build and maintain runbooks, a knowledge base, and standard operating procedures
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding for employees and contractors, including provisioning and recovering devices and access
  • Coordinate shipping, setup, repairs, and equipment returns for a distributed team
  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory and SaaS license tracking; report savings opportunities to the COO/CFO quarterly
  • Ensure device encryption, manage Google Workspace data retention, and own recovery procedures for lost or stolen devices
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and evaluate new tools as needs evolve
  • Support engineers with laptop standards, tool access, and secure setup for US and international team members
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations on onboarding/offboarding, purchasing, budget, and IT controls documentation to support future compliance efforts (including SOC 2)
  • Other duties as assigned

You’re a great fit if you:

  • Have 3–5+ years in IT support or systems administration, ideally at a startup or SMB
  • Have experience as a sole or lead IT person, or building IT processes from the ground up
  • Have hands-on experience with an MDM platform (Iru/Kandji, Jamf, Intune, or similar)
  • Possess strong Google Workspace administration skills
  • Have experience with SSO, MFA, and identity management tools
  • Are comfortable supporting both macOS and Windows
  • Have experience writing and implementing IT policies
  • Have a documentation-first habit and communicate clearly with non-technical coworkers
  • Have scripting or automation experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or low-code tools like n8n or Zapier)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with SaaS management platforms
  • Hands-on incident response or endpoint investigation experience
  • Exposure to SOC 2 readiness (ISO 27001 or similar a plus)
  • Familiarity with AWS or cloud infrastructure basics

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

What success looks like in your first 90 days:

  • Learn our environment, tools, and current IT processes
  • Take over day-to-day support and onboarding/offboarding
  • Document onboarding and offboarding end-to-end
  • Complete a full hardware and SaaS inventory
  • Confirm the Windows and personal device footprint and propose an approach
  • Publish runbooks for common support issues
  • Identify and automate at least two repetitive IT processes
  • Deliver an IT and security gap assessment with prioritized recommendations
  • Present a 6–12 month IT roadmap to Engineering leadership and the COO/CFO

Hours and Availability:

  • Flexible scheduling, with a preference for three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) or approximately 24–28 hours per week; alternative schedules may be discussed
  • Most support occurs during standard business hours; occasional evening or weekend support may be needed for urgent issues or planned maintenance

Travel:

  • Typically less than 5%; primarily remote with occasional travel to the company’s warehouse for on-site IT support
