The Role:
Information Technology underpins the processes and systems that the County Council uses in the delivery of services to the public and partner organisations. This opportunity is available within the IT Service Management team, supporting the business priorities of Hampshire County Council.
What you’ll do:
As an IT Asset and Configuration Analyst, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, governance, and control of IT assets, software assets, and configuration items throughout their lifecycle.
You will act as a subject matter expert supporting configuration management, software asset management (SAM), and asset management activities, ensuring compliance, governance, and integration with other IT Service Management processes and Teams including Service Mangers, Finance, Contract Management, Service Design and Transition and Change Management alongside working colleagues in the wider IT Department.
The role will enable IT Services to exercise effective control of IT assets, software licences, and configuration items by ensuring that accurate, up-to-date, and verified information is maintained, supporting operational effectiveness, audit readiness, compliance, financial control, and continual service improvement.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused individual with experience in Asset Management, Configuration Management and/or Software Asset Management. You will have a good understanding of software licensing principles, asset management systems and CMDBs, alongside strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and produce meaningful reports and KPI metrics.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, capable of building effective working relationships across all levels. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
You should be a collaborative team player with experience supporting audit, compliance and governance activities, a commitment to continuous professional development, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies, systems and processes. A minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent) and 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English, is required.
