GDIT is seeking an experienced IT Asset Manager to support our NASA Business Area in managing a program’s technology assets including hardware, software, licenses, and other IT assets throughout their entire lifecycle from purchasing and deployment to maintenance, security, and retirement.

The Asset Manager will own the full lifecycle of hardware, software and other IT assets across the NASA enterprise level program ensuring accurate inventory, financial transparency, and IT compliance in 24x7 operations environment.
As an Asset Manager supporting this opportunity, you will be responsible for the asset management cycle, security, and optimal use of IT hardware, software, and services within the NASA enterprise level program, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and operational readiness. You will help shape GDIT’s NASA account by aligning customer priorities, driving innovation, and ensuring technical solutions meet NASA’s mission, enterprise, and security requirements. This position will ensure that IT assets follow industry best practices, federal standards, and NASA’s evolving digital transformation objectives.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned Asset Manager with prior experience supporting NASA or similar federal environments. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in IT asset management at an enterprise level and excellent technical leadership. Exceptional communication skills are essential to convey technical concepts to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.
In this Asset Management role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining an accurate inventory of the program’s hardware, software, licensing and other IT assets. Ensure assets are properly tracked, secure, compliant, cost-effective, and available for use. You must be able to build trusted relationships with internal and customer stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
Track Full Asset Lifecycle
• Manage asset procurement → deployment → assignment → maintenance → transfer → disposal.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all IT assets.
• Monitor hardware refresh cycles and recommend replacement schedules.
• Ensure proper disposal, recycling, and data destruction of retired equipment.
• Develop, lead and enforce asset management policies and procedures.
• Use IT Asset Management (ITAM) or Configuration Management Database (CMDB) tools to maintain asset records.
Technical Quality, Compliance, and Oversight
• Ensure all equipment and software comply with NASA, NIST, federal IT, and cybersecurity standards.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and software licensing requirements.
Operational Support
• Coordinate with IT operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure assets are available and functional.
• Prepare reports on asset inventory, costs, utilization, compliance, and lifecycle status.
Cost & Resource Optimization – Reducing waste, controlling costs, and aligning IT resources with program demands
• Help reduce unnecessary IT spending by identifying unused, duplicate, or underutilized assets.
• Establish controls to protect company technology from loss, theft, or unauthorized use.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
• Engage with the NASA customer, program partners, internal, and external teams to understand requirements, constraints, and program objectives.
• Build trust by consistently delivering thoughtful, scalable, and high‑quality architectural recommendations.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT asset management, IT operations or related experience.
• Experience in NASA environments or comparable federal mission systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of hardware, software licensing, procurement, and IT inventory processes.
• Ability to manage vendors and work across multiple departments.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
