IT Business Analyst (ITBA)
About the Role
We are seeking a high-calibre, business-oriented IT Business Analyst to shape and deliver technology and digital transformation initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated financial services environment. This role requires a well-rounded professional who combines strong domain knowledge, sound judgment, structured thinking, and the ability to communicate complex matters clearly and concisely.
You will serve as a trusted bridge between business, technology, operations, corporate functions, regional teams, vendors, and external partners. You will translate business objectives and problems into precise requirements and practical solutions; evaluate options and trade-offs; establish realistic delivery plans; and drive initiatives from discovery through implementation and measurable business outcomes.
The successful candidate is intellectually sharp, logical, pragmatic, and comfortable making progress amid ambiguity. You ask incisive questions, separate facts from assumptions, apply common sense, learn unfamiliar domains quickly, and provide focused recommendations rather than lengthy descriptions. You build trust through strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, dependable follow-through, and ownership of outcomes.
Prior experience in securities, capital markets, brokerage, wealth management, banking, or another regulated financial services environment is strongly preferred. Candidates from other complex industries may be considered if they demonstrate strong BA fundamentals, rapid learning ability, and experience working across corporate functions and third parties.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business, operations, technology, risk, compliance, finance, legal, regional teams, vendors, and external partners to understand objectives, constraints, pain points, and desired outcomes.
Lead structured discovery and requirement elicitation through interviews, workshops, data analysis, process observation, and document review.
Translate business needs into clear, complete, testable, and prioritized business, functional, non-functional, data, integration, security, and operational requirements.
Prepare concise, decision-ready materials including BRDs, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, business rules, option assessments, and executive summaries.
Analyze problems logically, validate facts, challenge assumptions constructively, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions supported by evidence and sound business judgment.
Assess solution options, dependencies, risks, controls, costs, benefits, and trade-offs; communicate recommendations with precision to enable timely decisions.
Develop and maintain realistic work plans, milestones, requirement schedules, decision logs, risk and issue records, and traceability from business objectives through delivery.
Work closely with developers, solution architects, project managers, testers, infrastructure, security, and vendors throughout the SDLC to ensure shared understanding and delivery quality.
Own requirement quality and scope clarity; manage changes, resolve gaps and conflicts, escalate material issues promptly, and prevent avoidable rework.
Coordinate or support solution validation, SIT, UAT, defect triage, cutover, deployment readiness, user training, operational handover, and post-implementation review.
Monitor whether delivered solutions achieve the intended business outcome and identify follow-up actions, process improvements, automation opportunities, and lessons learned.
Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and ensure compliance with applicable governance, architecture, security, risk, regulatory, and change-management standards.
Build effective working relationships, manage expectations professionally, and adapt communication style and level of detail to executives, users, technical teams, and third parties.
