IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC)

Summary

Designs, secures, and maintains hybrid networks for a U.S. Cyber Command mission, configuring routers, firewalls, and cloud systems while enforcing cybersecurity policies and compliance.

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - HC/Infrastructure/Sustainment LOB.

Gathers infrastructure requirements to design, develop, plan, deploy, and implement solutions within a complex hybrid infrastructure, encompassing both on-premise and multi-classification cloud environments.

Configures, installs, tests, and maintains network infrastructure devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and their operating systems.

Monitors network performance and capacity, diagnoses connectivity problems, and applies necessary patches to mitigate security vulnerabilities.

Integrates new systems into the existing network architecture and provides expert feedback on network design and infrastructure requirements.

Applies a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and network security measures to protect against malware and cyber threats.

Ensures network operations are compliant with all applicable national laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards related to cybersecurity.
