Summary
Contract Data Engineer in Makati (hybrid, 3 days onsite) who designs, builds, and maintains scalable ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, collaborating with analysts and stakeholders. Core stack: Python/Java/Scala/SQL with big data tools like Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka, plus relational and NoSQL databases.

Work Setup: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH) | Day shift
Employment Type: Contractual (6-month initial contract, potential for absorption or extension based on performance)

What we're looking for
Proven experience (3+ years) working as a Data Engineer or in a similar role involving data pipeline development and database management
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or SQL
Hands-on experience with big data technologies and tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or similar platforms
Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing ETL processes and data warehousing solutions
Solid understanding of database systems (both relational and NoSQL) and experience with platforms like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar
Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and compliance standards
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Preferred: Experience with machine learning pipelines, real-time data processing, or business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Preferred: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
Key responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple sources
Build and maintain data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and data quality
Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Develop and implement data validation frameworks and quality assurance protocols to ensure data integrity and consistency
Optimise database queries and data processing workflows to improve system performance and reduce operational costs
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to maintain uptime and reliability
Document data architecture, processes, and procedures to support team knowledge sharing and organisational continuity
Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and best practices, recommending improvements to existing systems
Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement data governance, compliance, and security measures
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of coding standards and best practices
