IT Database Administrator

About the Role

As our Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, optimisation, security, and ongoing development of our SQL Server environment. You’ll work closely with teams across IT, Production, Engineering, and Data Analytics to ensure our database platforms remain reliable, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across on-premises, clustered, high-availability, and Azure environments.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations while maintaining data integrity and minimising downtime.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise database performance.
  • Develop and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Implement database security controls, encryption, and compliance standards.
  • Document database configurations, data flows, procedures, and standards.
  • Automate maintenance and monitoring tasks using T‑SQL and related tools.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for database-related incidents and service requests.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices through ongoing professional development.

About You

You are an experienced database professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while delivering outstanding customer service.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 4–6+ years' experience in database administration and support.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Proven knowledge of SQL Server clustering and High Availability Groups.
  • Experience automating database maintenance using T‑SQL and related tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Azure Data Factory and ETL data processing pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Dataverse.
  • Certifications in Azure, ITIL, or Windows Server technologies.
