Applied Materials is seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to support business-critical laboratory operations systems and digital solutions used across global engineering, research, and manufacturing labs. This role will partner with business stakeholders, laboratory teams, and IT organizations to support application enhancements, process improvements, user onboarding, and operational support.

The position will also provide functional coordination and support for laboratory mobility solutions, including tablets, mobile devices, barcode technologies, printers, and other peripherals that enable efficient laboratory operations. The successful candidate will work across multiple sites and regions, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and support standardized processes across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Applications & Digital Solutions
  • Support enterprise laboratory operations and workflow management solutions.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories.
  • Partner with development teams to deliver system enhancements.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and production deployments.
  • Support incident management and service request resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.

Laboratory Operations Support

  • Support solutions used for asset tracking, operational workflows, resource scheduling, and laboratory activities.
  • Work closely with laboratory personnel to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process automation opportunities.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new laboratories, users, and operational workflows.

Mobility & Peripheral Device Support

  • Provide functional coordination for mobile device solutions used in labs.
  • Support tablet-based workflows and business processes.
  • Coordinate printer onboarding, configuration, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and endpoint teams to ensure device readiness.
  • Assist with adoption of new technologies supporting laboratory operations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between business users, product owners, and technical teams.
  • Conduct requirement workshops and process reviews.
  • Develop process documentation, training materials, and knowledge articles.
  • Support change management and end-user adoption initiatives.

Equipment Automation & Systems Integration Support

  • Support laboratory equipment automation solutions and operational technology workflows used across engineering and R&D environments.
  • Partner with laboratory, engineering, and IT teams to analyze automation-related business processes and system requirements.
  • Coordinate functional support for equipment-to-application integrations and automated data collection processes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting automation workflow issues and coordinate resolution with development, engineering, and infrastructure teams.
  • Support onboarding of new laboratory equipment, automation-enabled workflows, and associated business processes.
  • Participate in testing and validation of automation-related system enhancements and integrations.
  • Maintain documentation for laboratory automation processes, interfaces, and operating procedures.

Laboratory Security & Compliance Support

  • Support laboratory application security processes, user access management, and role-based access controls.
  • Coordinate user provisioning, access reviews, and access request fulfillment activities.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure laboratory systems comply with corporate security standards.
  • Assist with audit readiness activities, security documentation, and compliance reviews.
  • Support implementation and adoption of security controls for laboratory applications, mobile devices, and connected equipment.
  • Coordinate remediation of security findings, vulnerabilities, and compliance-related action items.
  • Promote security best practices and user awareness across laboratory environments.

Global Operational Support

  • Support business users across multiple locations, regions, and time zones.
  • Participate in issue triage, problem management, and operational reviews.
  • Monitor application support trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support critical business operations and escalation management processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, or Application Analyst.
  • Experience supporting enterprise business applications and operational systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with global teams and cross-functional organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, or operational technology environments.
  • Experience with asset management, workflow management, inventory tracking, or operations systems.
  • Knowledge of mobile device solutions, printers, barcode technologies, and peripheral integrations.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Jira.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integrations involving ERP, asset management, or operational systems.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed business operations.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
