IT Help Desk Technician
Summary
Mid-level IT support technician acting as a key escalation point for 9 offices and 400+ endpoints at an engineering firm — resolving Windows, hardware, and network issues, supporting AEC software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam), and growing into server, network, and security work with senior IT staff in a remote-hybrid role.
Are you a mid-level IT professional looking to expand your foundation in systems administration, network engineering, and infrastructure? Thompson & Litton, an established multi-disciplined firm, has an immediate opening for an IT Support Technician. If you are ready to build on your core support experience and step into infrastructure management, we want a self-motivated individual to grow within our dynamic internal team.
While this role serves as a primary point of contact for our 9 offices and 400+ endpoints, it is designed with a strong technical growth track—offering direct exposure to networking, server administration, and cybersecurity workflows alongside senior IT staff.
The Role: Support & Systems Administration
As part of our internal IT team, you will manage diverse technology environments and work directly with senior staff to maintain and scale our technical infrastructure. You will:
- Provide Advanced Technical Support: Serve as a key escalation point for support requests via phone, ticketing system, and in-person—diagnosing and resolving complex Windows 10/11, hardware, and network-related issues.
- Support AEC Production Workflows: Manage specialized production software environments, including AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam (licensing, application integration, plugin conflicts, and large-format plotting workflows).
- Manage Users & Workstations: Lead account administration in Active Directory / Entra ID, streamline workstation deployment and imaging, and manage hardware life cycles across the firm.
- Maintain Infrastructure & Networks: Assist with wired and wireless network administration (Cisco, Ubiquiti), manage firewalls (pfSense), and support Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) configuration, maintenance, and security patching.
- Maintain Systems & Security: Enforce IT security practices, verify system backup integrity, maintain detailed technical documentation, and participate in a rotating after-hours/on-call schedule to support critical operations.
What You Bring
- Experience: Proven mid-level IT support experience in a professional or enterprise environment (3+ years preferred).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Windows OS troubleshooting, Active Directory / Microsoft 365 administration, workstation hardware management, and core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, IP routing, Wi-Fi, network printers).
- Bonus Exposure: Familiarity with CAD/design environments (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam), Cisco/Ubiquiti hardware, pfSense firewalls, or Windows/Linux server environments (CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus).
- Communication & Logistics: Strong problem-solving and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly translate complex technical issues for non-technical staff; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally between regional office sites.
- Physical Ability: Capability to lift and move IT equipment up to 40 lbs.
