| Primary Objective: | To support the delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s IT infrastructure and systems across AKG UK and its component organisations. The Infrastructure & Automation Engineer will work closely with the Infrastructure & Systems Manager on day‑to‑day technical activities, contributing to the operation of Microsoft 365, infrastructure platforms, networks, and IT projects. The role provides hands‑on experience, responsibility, and development opportunities, with appropriate support and escalation where required. |

| Key Responsibilities |
| Infrastructure & Systems Support - Provide support & configuration for infrastructure-related infrastructure & requests for IaaS, PaaS and cloud platforms.
- Contribute to maintaining system availability, performance, and reliability across IaaS, PaaS and cloud platforms.
- Provide support for security‑related activities such as MFA, access controls, and device policies & audits
- Identify issues or risks, escalate where required and proactively highlight improvements
- Carry out routine maintenance and tasks in line with documented processes.
System Automation, Development & Integration - Work closely with operational teams to highlight areas where automation can be used to bring efficiencies to individuals & teams
- Implement & support system enhancements, integrations, and automation activity using Power Platform (Apps & Automate)
- Support testing, documentation, and rollout of changes.
- Develop technical skills in scripting and automation through real‑world use.
LAN / WAN Support - Support the maintenance and monitoring of LAN and WAN infrastructure.
- Assist with troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues when escalated from operational support or MSP
- Liaise with third‑party providers where appropriate and escalate where required.
IT Project Support - Support the delivery of IT infrastructure and systems projects.
- Undertake project tasks such as deployments, testing, documentation, and user support.
- Build experience in project delivery and change management practices.
Documentation, Learning & Continuous Improvement - Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date technical documentation.
- Follow agreed security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Actively develop technical knowledge and skills through training and hands‑on experience.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to ways of working.

| Essential/Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience |
| Essential - Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure and systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and modern workplace technologies.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to work.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and seek support when needed.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours where project work requires (occasional)
Desirable - Exposure to Azure, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, or similar platforms.
- Basic understanding of Power Platform (Apps & Automate).
- Basic understanding of networking (LAN / WAN).
- Awareness of IT security principles and best practice.
- Interest in automation, scripting, or systems integration.
- Relevant IT qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
- Full & clean UK driving license (or equivalent)
Security & Compliance Awareness - Awareness of the importance of security, data protection, and compliance.
- Willingness to work within environments aligned to Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001.
