IT Lab Support Specialist

Lab Computing Analyst

We're looking for a technically skilled and customer-focused Lab Computing Analyst to provide on-site IT support within a regulated laboratory environment. This is a hands-on role that blends traditional IT support with compliance, consulting, and stakeholder coordination — ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology and science.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform break/fix support for all instrument-connected systems and serve as the primary technical contact for field service engineers and external vendors
• Implement Windows-based security policies and ensure adherence to corporate compliance programs through periodic reporting
• Maintain a physical inventory of lab equipment, PCs, software, and other environment-relevant assets
• Support validation and compliance activities (IOPQ) and provide technical subject matter expertise for new system validation and change management
• Gather and analyze requirements, assess current-state processes, and recommend process improvements aligned with industry best practices
• Evaluate vendor solutions and facilitate proof-of-concept demos
• Coordinate with internal and external service groups, providing weekly planning schedules and participating in monthly operational reviews and quarterly metrics reporting with department heads
• Perform preventative maintenance on systems based on client schedules, as applicable

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a lab support role working directly with scientists, vendors, and lab instruments
• 3+ years supporting a Windows environment
• Experience supporting GxP machines and operating within a GxP-regulated environment
• Strong troubleshooting skills across complex instrument and technology issues
• Excellent customer service and communication skills — written and verbal
• Ability to manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects
• Familiarity with laboratory safety practices

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
