IT Manager

Open 29d
We’re looking for an experienced IT Manager to lead the day-to-day operation, support, and continual improvement of our internal IT environment. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our people have reliable, secure, and efficient technology to do their best work, overseeing everything from end-user support and device management through to networks, core business applications, and security controls.
In this role you’ll take ownership of our IT roadmap, balancing day-to-day incident and request management with longer-term improvement projects. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to understand their needs, translate them into practical solutions, and manage vendors and partners where appropriate.
This is a hands-on role for someone who’s comfortable rolling up their sleeves to resolve issues, while also setting standards, processes, and policies that scale. You’ll bring strong technical breadth, excellent communication skills, and a pragmatic approach to delivering reliable IT services in a growing organisation.
  • Own the day-to-day operation of our IT estate, ensuring systems, networks, and devices are available, secure, and performing well.
  • Provide leadership and escalation support for the IT helpdesk/service desk, ensuring incidents and requests are prioritised and resolved within agreed SLAs.
  • Manage the lifecycle of end-user devices (laptops, mobiles, peripherals), including procurement, configuration, deployment, and decommissioning.
  • Administer core business applications (e.g. productivity suites, communication and collaboration tools, line-of-business systems), managing access, licences, and integrations.
  • Maintain and improve our network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/VPN), working with external partners where necessary.
  • Lead on IT security and compliance activities in partnership with Information Security, including patch management, endpoint protection, access control, and security awareness.
  • Develop, document, and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures covering areas such as acceptable use, asset management, backup and recovery, and change management.
  • Plan and deliver IT projects (upgrades, migrations, new tools) from requirements gathering through to implementation and handover.
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, including contract reviews, renewals, and performance management.
  • Monitor key IT metrics and provide regular reporting and recommendations for improvement to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in an IT Manager or senior IT role with responsibility for day-to-day operations and support.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of end-user computing (Windows/macOS), productivity and collaboration tools, and common business applications.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi) and experience managing or working with network infrastructure.
  • Solid grasp of IT security best practices, including endpoint security, identity and access management, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience managing an IT helpdesk/service desk function, including incident, request, and change processes.
  • Comfortable planning and delivering IT projects (e.g. system upgrades, migrations, new tool rollouts) with clear communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured, pragmatic approach and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences and build strong relationships across the business.
  • Organised and proactive, able to prioritise effectively and balance operational work with improvement initiatives.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, security) are a plus but not essential.
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • Hybrid working with flexibility to balance time in the office and working from home (where applicable).
  • Generous holiday allowance plus public holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Company pension scheme with matched contributions.
  • Private health insurance and enhanced wellbeing support (where offered).
  • Access to ongoing learning and development, including support for relevant certifications.
  • Regular team events and opportunities to connect with colleagues across the business.
  • A supportive, collaborative environment where you can shape how IT supports our growth.
