Job description
An IT Network Administrator designs, implements, manages, configures, secure and maintains an organization’s IT infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and servers and data communications systems. Their responsibilities include troubleshooting network issues, ensuring optimal performance and availability, implementing security measures, managing network hardware and software, and training users. They are crucial for maintaining connectivity and data sharing within an organization by installing, configuring, monitoring, and upgrading network infrastructure.
Network Operations: Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN infrastructure, including routers, switches, and VLANs.
Design and Implementation: Planning and establishing network infrastructure, including physical setup, hardware, and software.
Maintenance and Monitoring: Routinely checking network performance, conducting
maintenance, and performing upgrades for hardware and software.
Troubleshooting: Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving network issues to ensure minimal
downtime and efficient operation.
Monitoring & Threat Detection: Monitor network performance and traffic for suspicious activity, ensuring proactive threat mitigation.
Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security protocols, configuring firewalls, managing content filtering, and adjusting security permissions to protect against cyber threats.
Hardware and Software Management: Installing, configuring, and managing network
components like routers, switches, servers, and various network software applications.
User Support and Training: Providing technical assistance to users and delivering training on network systems and security protocols.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of network documentation and configurations.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in network administration, IT infrastructure, or systems administration.
Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and VLAN environments.
Hands-on experience configuring and managing network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and network appliances.
Experience with network monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting using industry-standard monitoring tools.
Knowledge of network security best practices, including firewall management, VPN configuration, intrusion prevention, endpoint security, and access control.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Must have experience in Fortigate and POS.
