IT Operations Specialist

Join Our Team

Wieser Concrete Products, Inc.

A family-owned and operated manufacturer of high-quality precast products throughout the entire United States as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. Since being founded in 1965, it has grown to over 200 team members and multiple manufacturing and distribution sites.

IT Operations Specialist

Wieser Concrete is hiring an in-house IT Systems Administrator to be the primary point of contact for IT across our sites. This is a broad, hands-on role that includes day-to-day helpdesk & endpoint management, network hardware, Microsoft 365/Entra administration, and ownership of our Azure-hosted infrastructure and in-house custom applications. An outside IT consultant remains available for larger projects, but this person will be the one that employees and site leadership turn to when something breaks, and will own our modern, automation-first environment day to day.

We care more about how you think than how many years you've clocked. Wieser's IT environment is modern and cloud-native. Entra ID (no on-prem AD), Azure infrastructure managed as code via Pulumi, Tailscale and certificate-based SSH for remote access, and heavy use of automation and AI tools to move faster. We'd rather hire someone with strong fundamentals, real curiosity, and comfort with distributed systems and automation than someone anchored in traditional on-prem Windows Server/AD environments. If that's you, however that shows up on paper, we want to hear from you.

Benefits:

  • Competitive wages, commensurate with experience (see more info below).
  • 401k with employer match
  • Voluntary Profit sharing
  • High-deductible medical insurance and employer health savings account contribution
  • Supplemental voluntary dental, vision, accident, hospital, life, disability, critical illness insurance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT issues across all sites. Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day helpdesk requests.
  • Manage and maintain ~ 60+ endpoints across multiple Midwest sites.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (users, licensing, security policies, Teams/SharePoint/Exchange/Defender).
  • Manage network hardware including switches, firewalls, Tailscale, and certificate-based SSH access.
  • Own and maintain our Azure-hosted infrastructure via our existing IaC stack. Apply changes, troubleshoot deployments, extend as needed.
  • Maintain and take full ownership of existing in-house custom applications/scripts.
  • Own backup and disaster recovery. Monitor, test, and maintain backup systems.
  • Own endpoint and cloud security: patching, endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, monitoring Azure security posture.
  • Create and enforce company security policy; develop and deliver security awareness training for staff.
  • Handle onboarding/offboarding: account provisioning, hardware setup/imaging, asset tracking.
  • Procure office IT assets - research options, get vendor quotes, track spend.
  • Manage vendor relationships and SaaS subscriptions (renewals, support, contract tracking).
  • Identify and build automation using scripting and AI tools to reduce repetitive manual work.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and infrastructure.
  • Development of IT solutions for business challenges

What You Bring:

We don't have a hard years-of-experience requirement. A recent grad with strong fundamentals in distributed systems/automation and no professional IT experience is just as competitive here as an experienced generalist. What matters is the mindset above.

  • Comfort with modern, cloud-native, automation-first IT practices
  • Programming/scripting proficiency
  • Ability to read and modify existing Infrastructure-as-Code (Pulumi, Terraform, or similar - we'll teach you our specific setup)
  • Familiarity with M365/Entra ID administration, or a fast learner who can pick it up quickly
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort owning problems independently
  • Genuine curiosity - you automate things because it bugs you to do them manually twice
  • Valid driver's license (occasional site travel)
  • Ability to pass a background check

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience owning a small app/script portfolio solo - bug fixes, small features, keeping things running without a dev team behind you
  • Experience building automation with generative AI tooling (Claude Code, Codex, etc)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move IT equipment (up to ~40 lbs)
  • Comfortable in a manufacturing/industrial environment during site visits
  • Ability to drive longer distances when necessary to visit our remote locations

Reports To: CFO

Location: Based at Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, with travel to other Wieser Concrete Midwest locations as needed (approximately once/month)

Candidates newer to the field with strong fundamentals and demonstrated automation ability are encouraged to apply; salary will reflect where you land on the experience spectrum.
