IT/OT INTEGRATION ENGINEER / DEVELOPER WITH GERMAN (m/f/d)
Summary
An IT/OT integration engineer at Schwarz Group's internal tech division in Sofia takes internal IT/OT products from concept to production-ready deployment in plants — connecting PLCs, fieldbuses and smart sensors with modern software, edge hardware and (real-time) Linux systems.
The impact you will create:
- You accompany internal IT/OT products from the initial architectural concept through prototyping to production-ready integration in the plants.
- You analyze and break down complex technical matters – whether at the protocol level, in the Linux kernel, or when integrating intelligent sensors.
- You connect classic automation (PLC, fieldbuses) with modern software practices.
- You evaluate edge hardware, configure (real-time) operating systems, and ensure a high-performance, secure connection to higher-level IT systems.
- You test new technologies (e.g., vPLC, RT-Linux, IIoT protocols) for their practical viability and translate them into scalable standards.
Experience and skills you will need:
- A completed degree (e.g., Computer Engineering, Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering) or a comparable qualification in the IT/OT environment.
- Initial experience with industrial control technology, fieldbuses, or sensors/actuators.
- Knowledge of Linux environments (ideally real-time Linux / PREEMPT_RT), shell/scripting, or system architectures at the field level.
- Basic knowledge of a modern programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++, Go, or Rust).
- You possess the ability to methodically break down complex systems, get to the root of causes, and build pragmatic, robust solutions.
- You communicate confidently in written and spoken German and English.
