About the Role

We are looking for an experienced IT Platform Engineer / Python Application Programmer to join the Data Access Layer team in Amsterdam.

The ideal candidate will have strong Python development experience and be comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle — from planning and design through hands-on development, testing, CI/CD, and automated deployment.

You will work within a DevOps environment, developing reliable and highly available applications using modern cloud and containerisation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software solutions using Python.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design through deployment.
• Develop backend services and APIs using FastAPI.
• Work with databases using SQLAlchemy and SQL.
• Write automated unit and integration tests using Pytest.
• Build and maintain containerised applications using Docker.
• Work with Kubernetes for application deployment and management.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform.
• Work with Microsoft Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews and quality controls.
• Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and deployment issues.
• Work with Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Support applications with high availability and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate with DevOps, engineering, and other technical teams.
• Contribute to Agile development activities and continuous improvement.
• Share technical expertise and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Essential Requirements

• 6–8 years of relevant IT/software engineering experience.
• Strong professional experience with Python.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with FastAPI.
• Experience with SQL and SQLAlchemy.
• Experience with Pytest and automated testing.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles.
• Practical experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud technologies.
• Experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Understanding of application infrastructure and software architecture.
• Experience developing or supporting applications with high availability requirements.
• Experience working within Agile/DevOps teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with Kafka.
• Experience with PowerShell.
