Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Platform Engineer with strong proficiency in Python and a proven track record in designing, developing, and deploying reliable software solutions. This role requires deep expertise across the full software development lifecycle—from planning and architecture to hands-on coding, testing, and automated deployment.

You will work within a modern Azure-based environment, applying engineering best practices, DevOps principles, and Infrastructure-as-Code to build secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain platform components using Python and object‑oriented programming principles.
  • Build and operate solutions on Microsoft Azure, including storage, networking, access management, and related cloud services.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for consistent, automated provisioning.
  • Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and domain-driven design (DDD) in solution architecture.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB experience is a plus).
  • Ensure adherence to Data Governance practices, including technologies such as Unity Catalog.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support incremental software delivery.
  • Write robust unit tests using pytest and mocking frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, secure, and scalable platform solutions.
  • Participate in planning, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–10 years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, object-oriented design, and software architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services (storage, networking, IAM, etc.).
  • Experience with Terraform and IaC best practices.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and incremental development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks (Unity Catalog preferred).
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; Cosmos DB is advantageous.
  • Strong grounding in SOLID principles, design patterns, and DDD.
  • Familiarity with pytest, unit testing, and mocking libraries.
  • Ability to work onsite in Amsterdam.
