The Opportunity:
OVERVIEW
Are you an organized, collaborative technology professional who enjoys turning complex goals into successful outcomes? Multnomah County’s Department of County Assets (DCA) IT Division is seeking a communicative, and solutions-oriented IT Project Manager 1 to join our IT Infrastructure team.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing multiple simultaneous small-to-medium-sized technology projects that range from low to moderate complexity. You will work closely with cross-functional technical teams, county staff, external partners, and vendors to deliver key infrastructure improvements that keep our community and operations running smoothly.
What You Will Do:
Full-Lifecycle Project Management:
Plan and execute small-to-medium IT infrastructure projects (hardware, software implementation, network, desktop, and data center solutions) from initiation through deployment.
Serve as the primary IT Infrastructure liaison to Facilities & Property Management (FPM) participating in Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings, conducting blueprint reviews and site box walks, leading Request for Information/Request for Proposal, and managing testing, change management, user training, and handoffs.
Resource Management and Cost Management:
Partner with IT managers to schedule technical staff.
Routine meetings with staff and managers to plan current and future project tasks.
Assist project teams in developing and tracking the IT personnel project costs.
Provide FPM project managers with IT cost estimates developed for projects.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
AND
Three (3) years of professional experience in project management or information technology that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency: 7 years of qualifying combination of training and/or experience).
Demonstrated experience coordinating or leading IT initiatives—such as hardware refreshes, software deployments, system upgrades, or vendor tool onboarding—from initial rollout through end-user adoption.
Demonstrated track record of taking ownership of IT projects, including site setups, hardware/software rollouts, and vendor integrations from scoping and deployment to documentation and post-launch support.
Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical partners, manage partner expectations, and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates:
Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Project Management Certification
Experience working on facilities, construction, or hardware deployment projects in partnership with facilities & property management and infrastructure teams.
Experience developing project communication plans, change management strategies, and user training programs.
Overseeing extensive IT hardware rollouts and major relocations for personnel and customers, while monitoring deliverables to ensure tasks stay on track.

Position & Location Details
Type of Position: Full-time, regular position.
Work Location: Multnomah Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97214.
Schedule: Standard daytime operational hours, Monday through Friday, with flexibility in start and end times.
Telework Designation: This position is designated for Routine Telework. You will primarily work remotely from home, but may be required to attend onsite meetings or project site visits as needed.
All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations.
