IT Project Manager – Electronic Security
Salary: $37 – $47 per hour
The opportunity
Sector7 Security is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to join our growing Christchurch team.
This is an opportunity for someone with a background in IT, infrastructure, networks or technical project management to bring their project management experience into the electronic security industry.
You'll take ownership of projects from initial scoping through planning, coordination, delivery and handover, working closely with customers, suppliers, technicians and management to make sure projects are delivered well.
The projects will range from Christchurch-based installations through to larger multi-site and national rollouts, with the opportunity to help shape how SECTOR7 manages and delivers increasingly complex projects as we grow.
What you'll be doing
You'll manage projects across areas including:
Electronic building access control systems
Electronic Security systems
Data and Security network infrastructure
Infrastructure upgrades and rollouts
Server and technology projects
Multi-site and national deployments
Technology upgrades and migrations
Commercial security and infrastructure projects
Your responsibilities will include:
Understanding client requirements and defining project scope
Developing project plans, timelines, budgets and resource requirements
Coordinating technicians, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders
Managing project schedules, risks, dependencies and changes
Coordinating site access, installation requirements and project logistics
Managing communication with customers throughout the project
Coordinating multi-site and national rollouts
Supporting the technical team to keep projects moving efficiently
Maintaining project documentation, reporting and project records
Managing project handover and completion
Identifying and resolving issues before they become problems
Improving the systems and processes we use to plan and deliver projects
Helping develop the project management capability of our growing installation division
This is a hands-on role. You'll need to understand what's happening on the ground, work effectively with technical people and be comfortable getting involved when something needs to be solved.
About you
We're looking for an organised, practical and technically minded project manager who enjoys taking ownership and making complex projects easier to deliver.
You don't need to have worked in electronic security before. We're particularly interested in people with experience managing technical, IT, infrastructure, network or systems projects who are confident working with both customers and technical teams.
You'll bring:
Several years' experience managing technical, IT, infrastructure or systems projects
A formal qualification in project management, business analysis or a related discipline
Strong project planning, scheduling and coordination skills
Experience managing risks, dependencies, resources and budgets
Experience working directly with clients and technical stakeholders
Experience coordinating or leading technical teams
Good understanding of IT infrastructure, networks or technology rollouts
Experience delivering migrations, upgrades or large-scale rollouts
Strong communication and organisational skills
A practical, delivery-focused approach and ability to take ownership
Willingness to learn the electronic security and data installation industry
Experience with network infrastructure, cybersecurity, building access control, CCTV and other electronic security technologies would be an advantage.
Most importantly, you're someone who takes ownership. You can look at a complicated project, work out what needs to happen, bring the right people together and keep things moving towards a successful outcome.
