IT Security Analyst (Graduate)

CEnet (Catholic Education Network) is a not-for-profit Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services organisation dedicated to supporting Catholic diocesan education networks across Australia. Connecting over 800 schools and 370,000 students and staff, we are seeking a motivated IT Security Analyst (Graduate) to join our Architecture & Cyber Security team.
In this role, you will monitor security telemetry related to CEnet systems and processes to target risk. You will perform initial triage on security events, validate platform health, and support CEnet's security service offerings. As a key member of our collaborative team, you will follow defined cyber incident response procedures and contribute to national sector-wide cyber security collaboration.
Key Responsibilities include:
Tactical & Proactive- Keep current with global security threats and contribute to the Catholic Education Cyber Security Network (CSN) and the National Technology Assessment Platform (TAP).
- Contribute to national cyber security assessments and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) sharing.
- Participate in incident response simulations and assist with security projects.
- Monitor security platforms (SIEM) for suspicious activity, perform triage, and escalate alerts.
- Follow established incident response playbooks/runbooks for effective event detection.
- Perform basic IT infrastructure and endpoint management tasks, including troubleshooting and patch validations.
- Act as the operational contact for Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs).
- Generate dashboards and metrics to identify operational gaps and anomalies.
- Ensure documentation and security runbooks remain current and valid.
Key Requirements:
- Completed or near-completion of a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field.
- Base knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and Windows/Linux/Mac operating systems.
- Understanding of security analysis practices (vulnerability management, MITRE ATT&CK framework, and SIEM operations).
- Highly motivated with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
